WOTSO FlexSpace is expanding its already strong presence in western Sydney, announcing a second site in the Penrith area, its sixth in Sydney’s fastest-growing region.
The new workspace is in a high-profile location on busy Mulgoa Road in Jamisontown, a six minute drive from the Penrith CBD, where WOTSO has a bustling space in Station Street.
“There’s good demand for flex workspace in and around Penrith, which we want to further capitalise on,” says Jessie Glew, CEO of WOTSO.
“From a strategic perspective we believe having a second location outside the Penrith CBD, with ample parking, will attract a different market.”
She says population growth in the area is robust and that a significant proportion of existing Penrith members are travelling from the nearby Blue Mountains.
Jamisontown is scheduled to open in early April, joining Penrith, Blacktown, Campbelltown, North Strathfield and Liverpool as part of WOTSO’s western Sydney network.
Western Sydney is a very active network with many members using WOTSO’s Passport Program to work across multiple sites in the region.
The Jamisontown workspace is in a large format retail and service centre owned by the WOTSO Property Group, that has multiple tenants including a child care centre, Tru Ninja, City Cave and some other large format retailers such as BCF and Barbeques Galore.
Work is now under way to convert the 700 sqm space – once leased by Toys R Us – into a mix of private offices and coworking space.
“The space we’re going into has high ceilings, giving it an industrial feel, and it will work really well as a flexspace.”
Adaptive reuse, a signature of many WOTSO spaces, will feature at Jamisontown through the deployment and conversion of up to 15 shipping containers into self-contained offices.
“We have taken this approach at our Sunshine Coast flexspace and it’s worked extremely well,” says Glew.
There will also be coworking space – with number of desks to be finalised – business grade internet, meeting rooms, a well-appointed communal kitchen, reception and shared office facilities.
WOTSO now has 27 operating sites and plans to open three new workspaces over the next six months, bringing the network to 30 sites.
The company’s first Melbourne flexspace is scheduled to open in mid-February, followed by Jamisontown in early April and Te Toangaroa, Auckland, in late June.
